34 coupe
« on: December 19, 2014, 07:54:33 pm »
I am thinking about getting into legend cars. I have noticed that there is a chassis for a 34 Ford coupe, and a "standard' coupe chassis. Does this mean that only a 34 Ford body will fit the 34 Ford chassis, or will a 34 Chevy coupe body fit as well? What is different?

Coupe chassis and Sedan chassis are the only options. You can body eithier however you choose.
There are 2 and 4 bar chassis out there. Perhaps that is where your confusion is comming from.
There was a bubble top coupe chassis, but I haven't seen one in awhile.

Thanks Steve. I was looking at a website that showed a different coupe chassis for a 34 ford. Must have been an old website . I know that they have discontinued some of the models.

That whole catalog is out of date. The sedan and coupe chassis are pretty nuch it any more. Bodies fit like chassis Coupe to coupe and sedan to sedan).

Really? First I've heard of that. What is a "Big boy" chassis? Is it heavier? (still competitive). Any info would be appreciated.

They would be competitive ... they simply moved some bars around to allow taller guys to fit inside the cockpit. If you are 7 feet and 300 pounds then you might be at a weight dis advantage as most racers add 20, 40 0r more lead to certain places on their chassis anyway to help handling....

 Dear Abby....

I am worried about my friend Jim

Thanksgiving has passed and Christmas dinner is right around the corner. I am worried about Jim's weight gain. From my understanding his chassis set-up may change after the weight gain.. Correct me if I am wrong here. Picture him sitting in his Legends Car. You know that forward point where the rear end housing's 3rd link mounts to the chassis ?? If he gains weight in his body above that point it will change the roll center of the chassis with him in it... if he gains weight below that point it will change the rear bite of his chassis with him in it. I am worried that he will simply hang to many pounds off of his rear end during the holidays !!
What do you advise ? Should we duct tape his hands and legs together, tuck him behind the couch and push the couch back against the wall this holiday season for his own good ?? Please advise !

(sigh)
