Legend car wiring trouble
« on: February 14, 2014, 02:38:43 am »
I need help with wiring up my Legend from scratch.  Its a 1250, red box & coils.  I am having trouble after wiring the car up twice.  The first time the battery kept draining, the second time the alternator stopped charging.  I have an old wiring diagram for the black box but I can't figure it out.  I am trying to make the wiring as basic as possible on/off switch, starter button no tach no lights inside, nothing.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks..

Thanks for the schematic.  I just checked over it with the schematic and it is right.  I'm thinking my problem is coming from the alternator back to the battery.  I do have a Long acre main power switch at the back of the car, but that's the only extra electrical component.  The car runs fine the way it is wired now, it just keeps draining the battery when the car sits over night so I have to keep a light charge on it.

Thanks

Jim,

Can you please email me that schematic. I seem to have lost it.
Thanks!

Steve

You may have a shorted cell in your battery. Disconnect the battery and see if it discharges on it own.

bg29  I had this problem before. the red and brown alternator wires may be hooked up backwards. Reverse them and I believe your battery will stay charged. Good luck

This is good info, I had the same problem and this fixed it for me. If you got schematic you can where they are wired to.

I know this is an old thread, but any chance I could get the wiring schematic for the red box emailed to me also?  I have been chasing electrical gremlins all year, I want to rewire the whole thing to start fresh.

Thanks for an help

I also would greatly appreciate the wiring diagram.  Thinking I might need to redo the wiring.

Thanks,
Whit
