Hi,
I am fairly new to Legends racing, and brand new to this site!
Last night we had our first practice session of the year.
The car handled great, but I have a wobble vibration begining at the entry of the corner and ending part way down the next straightaway. It feels like the left front is moving back and forth from left to right.
I thought it was a bent rim, or a tire out of shape.
I switched both of the front and rear tires, and no change.
I also tried putting on my BFGs from last year. The vibration was less, but still noticable.
My ball joints are brand new, and I can't seem to find any play in any of the front suspension when the car is jacked up off the ground.
I thought maybe it was a castor issue. I am currently running +1 in the LF and +2.5 in the RF.
I ran out of daylihgt before I was able to try changing the castor.
Does anyone have any ideas that could help me out?

Thanks for the reply!
They are brand new wheel bearings and seem to be tight.
There does not seem to be any movement in the wheel, the the wheel rotates smoothly.
I will check how tight I have the spindle shaft.

Check the 2 bolts where the steering arm bolts onto the bottom of the spindle

Another thing you may want to check is your rear axles. If one is cracked it could cause a vibration at certain RPM's and may feel like its in the front end. |

I changed the driveshaft, as there was a lot of play in the slide. I also checked the coupler nut and set screws, and both axles. I checked the steering arm bolts, along with every other bolt on the car. I retightened ball joints and checked wheel bearings.
I also rebalanced all of my tires.
The result was a decrease in the vibration, although I still feel it especially on very smooth tracks. It is more of a side-to-side shimmying effect.
I have learned to ignore it, as I had to during my last few races.
I keep searching for something else, but am running out of ideas.

Wonder if you might have a heim or two with some play in them if you feel it side to side. I would start with the panard bar heims and see if there is any movement. Just a shot in the dark.

Could the cracked head be contributing to a vibration?
Probably not likely to contribute to the point you describe... But add up all the little things... Perhaps.

Make sure you check all of the suspension bolts for tight. I have had many of the inner lower control arm bolts behind the rack come loose over the years. When that starts moving it the changes the toe which makes the car feel as you describe.
Also, make sure you sterring shaft doesn't have excessive play allowing the rack to float while you are holding the steering wheel tight.

watch the degree of the pinion try to stay from 0 to 5 degree depending of the height of your engine to much angle with stress the joint and cause vibration in hight speed
