Where can I buy a car lift like this?
« on: July 28, 2007, 10:46:23 am »
The legends car lift listed at the ebay link below is pretty neat.  I saw it in person because I bought my car from the guy that is selling it.  He doesn't want to ship the one listed, so I was wondering if anyone here might have an idea where I could buy one?

I think the mini cup cars use these a lot.

Hi Tom,
I saw that lift. Pretty Nice! Not sure where to buy one, but print out the pics and build your own. Doesn't look like it would be too hard. Also check the web and see if you can find some plans. Gotta be something out there like that.

Those wheels look a bit light  :-\. Something more heavy duty looks like a better idea.

I'm a little concerned about the cables also. What if it were to break? I Don't want to be under it!!!
Still searching.

This is interesting:

Sorry I'm posting these 1 by 1. I'm interested too. I think with a few pics and a little ingenuity a guy could build his own for a reasonable price. I am storing some pics on my computer. I could email them if your interested.

Give me an idea and a couple days off, I get all crazy. LOL! ;D
Got thinking about that cable or hydrolic failure thing; A simple locking device shouldn't be too hard to add.
I'm liking this idea more and more. Then again; maybe it's 1:45 in the morning and I'm loopy! :D

Hope that helps.

I have a lift similar to this one and I love it.  I bought it with my car and would hate to have to work on it without the lift.  It makes everything so much easier.  I can take some pictures of mine from differant angles if anyone would like to see it.  Mine raises the roof of the car to almost eye level( I am 6' tall).

Just a thought, but what about a used pallet jack or fork lift (assuming you have room for it)?

Hey red, you can email them to me or just post them here.   Those little winches are about $80 bucks from harbour freight.  I use one to load/unload my car from the trailer because my trailer is small and I have to keep things under control when loading/unloading.  It works great!

Hi John,
Didn't think of a pallet jack. Would work around the shop, but maybe not so portable. Those buggers can be pretty heavy. Good idea though!

Hi Kim,
What can I say - post pics, post pics, post pics!!!!  ;D  If you can find time, how about some dimensions also.

Thanks Guys!

Does anyone with one of these lifts have some basic dimensions?  I don't have a car yet to measure, and want to make sure that I don't build something too big or too small.  Looking for a winter project to keep me busy.

Hello,  A scissor pallet jack works great around the garage.  Too heavy to take to the track.  I just picked this up at a surplus equipment co. for 100 bucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
