Removable windows
« on: February 27, 2019, 09:07:22 am »
Road racing a Legends and looking for a way to weatherproof the car when towing or when in the pits.
Lexan is the answer but any mounting ideas? Want to pop them in and out when needed.
Thanks

Most people I know use car covers or tarps. You could try something like the plastic used in convertible tops, if you want to be able to see through it. Sew it to some canvass or some such rugged fabric. Use snaps to fasten it to the vehicle. Velcro is another thought, but may not hold up when transporting the vehicle.

Make a frame for all the windows, match the contour of each window, out of 1/4" square or round tubing and weld up so dzus button brackets to it, cut lexan and install.

We are currently doing a standing half mile in a Miata and trapping 186 MPH, hoping to go 200 and are using https://www.ebay.com/i/183362438653?chn=ps welded to the cage. Haven't had any problems at those speeds. So something with those brackets attached to a removable frame would probably work well.
